Smells Like Cinnabons

So I am a big fan of Ikea. I suppose this is how confession starts.

Every time I had a chance I would go for cinnabons and meatballs. This is my type of comfort food. And it is cheap!

But as the time passed, I realised that I can easily make cinnabons myself and to have that smell at my place is just fantastic. Gets even better when it is a bit chilly outside.

At first there was some hesitation as you need to prepare the dough. But trust me with this. Probably one of the easiest bakes that I have ever made! And it tastes amazing.

You won’t need a lot of ingredients I promise. To prepare everything you need make sure that butter is room temperature. Weigh the sugar, flour, butter. Place the pan on the medium heat and drop in your butter. Let it melt slowly and add milk. You will need this mixture warm and not boiling as yeast is in the picture.

While your mixture is heating up, prepare the crater! Mix your flour with caster sugar and one sachet of yeast! Don’t forget a pinch of salt and there is another special item – cardamom. I consider cardamom being the key to Swedish Cinnabons. But lately I decided, that regular non-cardamom are nicer. But it is up to you!

Pour the warmed up mixture into the crater and mix slowly. Let the yeast, bubble and activate itself. Feel it revive! Mix until you get a blob of dough.

Try to form a ball shape of dough, if you feel like it is too sticky, add more flour. Don’t be shy!

Place this lovely blob into the bowl, cover it up and make sure it stays somewhere warm for about 45 min. Don’t keep it for longer than 60min as it might grow too much.

While our dough is growing, it is time for the filling:

You will need sugar, butter and cinnamon. Mix room temperature butter with sugar and then 2tsp of cinnamon. This will make a cocoa looking mixture, which you will use to cover the dough.

After the dough is mature enough, form a long sheet with a rolling pin and start spreading the filling.

Roll Roll Roll. That’s all you need to do here! 🤤

From all the ingredients provided you will be able to create 12 cinnabons. You want more? Double the quantities! 🤗

Place these beauties into the cupcake tray or even a regular tray and before you put them into the oven you need to cover it with egg yolk. Mix one egg, grab a brush and apply a thin layer over them. This will make them shine and prevent from burning.

Almost forgot! Add sugar pearls. Otherwise it will only be half a job! 😮

Making these beauties will take you 25min in preheated oven 170 Celsius.

Before you eat them, let it cool for a few minutes, make a coffee pot in the mean time and consume them within 2 days as the longer you wait the dryer they get.
